Faster results for Lasting Change

You and your relationship are suffering.

To say you had a rough upbringing is an understatement. You were responsible for so much at a really young age, and while that’s helped you create success in your life, it hasn’t really helped you in your romantic relationships. You have faced a lot in your life, whether it was one major traumatic event that forever changed you or multiple terrible things that have occurred.

The memories of the past haunt you. You are no longer the same. You spend most of your days worrying and questioning yourself. You’re not eating right and hardly sleep. Your life feels so chaotic and even though you spend most of your time in your head worrying, you realize that nothing is even getting resolved.

No matter how much you talk about it and talk about it, it feels like it just won’t go away.

Sometimes you feel like you could just get past it all, but the good days have been reduced to good moments, and those good moments are becoming few and far between. Instead you show up as the mean parent - you are either constantly yelling and overwhelmed by your kids or you just hand them over to your partner to try to avoid dealing with them, and the guilt you feel at the end of the day for this leaves you feeling so much regret.

You know you can do better, but you’re afraid your partner is going to give up on you. Sometimes you want to give up on you. You want closeness and a deep, connected relationship but you feel lost on how to actually create that. You get so caught up on the day-to-day stresses and feel so exhausted and depleted by the end of the day that you have nothing left to give. You don’t feel like you’re doing anything right and you’re just so tired of fighting.

You want support. But you feel so lonely because as much as your partner tries to be supportive, you somehow end up pushing them away.

A Brainspotting Therapy Intensive Can Help.

Alicia Taverner, LMFT Your Brainspotting Therapist

Hey, I’m Alicia, and I use Brainspotting to help people who are exhausted and overwhelmed from carrying the shame and guilt of past pain and trauma to release the tension from their bodies and feel lighter and at peace with what has happened in the past so they can create their future.

I see you.

Wanting relief from the weight, stress, and pressure you constantly feel.

  • Wishing you could just reset your brain.

  • Hoping you could feel like the real you again.

  • Not wanting to blow up and push your partner away.

  • Truly ready for things to shift.

Together through brainspotting intensives, we’ll use an amazing therapy tool called Brainspotting to help you find a clear understanding about the past. Most of my clients find that after even one intensive they feel like they truly know how they got stuck and they have a better understanding of who they are now, and what they want to create moving forward. After several intensives, they find they start implementing the changes - without fear - and it impacts every aspect of their lives positively.

You will finally stop feeling guilty and start feeling proud of yourself for all the hard work you’ve done in just a short period of time.

How I use Brainspotting in Therapy:

This is more than just regular talk therapy - Brainspotting is a cutting edge technique that creates new neural pathways in the brain that leave you feeling like you can finally let go and move on from your past. Brainspotting is a focused processing technique used to help you identify, process, and release core nuero-physiological sources of emotional and physical pain, and unhealthy coping mechanisms associated with PTSD, anxiety, depression, addiction, chronic pain, chronic illness, and more.

  • Brainspotting is used in all of my intensives as a way to reduce anxiety, depression, panic attacks, or trauma responses.

  • Working through infidelity recovery and other difficult relationship issues can stir up many difficult emotions and people often find themselves triggered by memories or intrusive thoughts of their partner’s affair or their own affair, but working with a trained Brainspotting therapist like myself can reduce those triggers significantly.

  • As a brainspotting therapist, I am able to help you be more present and feel less overwhelmed by your emotions and experiences.

Uses for Brainspotting:

  • Sleep disorders

  • Generalized anxiety

  • Depression

  • Difficulty with decision making

  • Processing breakups

  • Grief & loss

  • Anger

  • Test anxiety

  • Difficulty sleeping

  • Improving performance in sports and in the workplace

  • Physical pain

  • Chronic illness

  • Expansion for things you want to feel more positively about such as sports, creativity, improving sales outcomes, and getting into flow states

  • Integrating psychedelic experiences

  • Anchoring positive emotions and beliefs

A Brainspotting intensive is a powerful way to accelerate the therapy process. Instead of going to therapy once a week, you can do a therapy intensive once a month and go far deeper with the focused time we will have together.

If you’re ready to face your past, say goodbye to intense arguments and blow-ups, and create peace and connection with your partner - then a Brainspotting intensive may be for you!

The Brainspotting Therapy Intensive Process

  • Pre-Intensive Interview

During this 50-minute pre-intensive call we will determine the goals for your intensive. We go through an extensive trauma history assessment and look at the places you feel most stuck, shut down, or overwhelmed. This session is going to prepare you for success with your intensive.

  • Customized Intensive

The Brainspotting intensive sessions take place at my office in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, or virtually and are scheduled for 1-2 days for 4 hours each day. This includes focused treatment that’s customized for you. During the intensive, you will have plenty of time and support to really experience deep change and walk away with new insights and a plan for how to make changes in your life.

  • Ongoing Intensive Support

After your first intensive you will have the option to continue with one monthly intensive of 4 hours or to have 2, 100-minute sessions per month. I do not do traditional 50-minute sessions as I want you to have the time to embody the changes that are being made with the brainspotting. My clients find this to be the most effective and I only seek to get you the best clinical outcomes possible from our work together. Generally people work with me for a year.

Why do a Brainspotting Therapy Intensive instead of traditional weekly therapy?

Brainspotting Therapy Intensives are for you if you want to go deeper than regular talk therapy and want to retrain your brain to go down a healthier path. If you’ve done weekly therapy before, then you know what it’s like to watch the clock and leave a session feeling like you barely scratched the surface. Many of my clients say they experience more rapid and deeper change with the intensive format.

  • Faster results. You want to make more progress in a shorter period of time.

  • Save time. You don’t want the start and stop of traditional weekly therapy.

  • Save money. Intensives are cost-effective when you compare the cost of weekly sessions over months vs. a 1-2 day intensive.

Why Brainspotting Intensives Are Often More Cost-Effective

Brainspotting intensives may feel like a bigger commitment upfront, but for many people they’re actually a gentler and more efficient way to heal.

Instead of opening difficult material for a short period and then having to close it again week after week, an intensive offers 3–4 hours of continuous, supported nervous-system work in one contained space. This allows your brain and body to stay with the process long enough for real resolution to begin.

In practice, a single Brainspotting intensive often creates the depth of several traditional sessions, without repeatedly re-orienting, re-activating, or stopping just as something meaningful starts to shift.

Because the work is uninterrupted and paced carefully, many clients find they need fewer sessions overall, less emotional back-and-forth, and experience steadier integration afterward.

Rather than stretching healing across months of short appointments, Brainspotting intensives offer a focused, compassionate path forward—one that respects your nervous system, your time, and your energy.

Why Weekly Sessions Often Don’t Allow Brainspotting to Fully Work

In a typical 50-minute therapy session, time is naturally divided:

The first 10 minutes are usually spent catching up and orienting—helping your nervous system settle and reconnect to where you left off.

The next 20 minutes are spent introducing or re-introducing the issue you want to focus on, bringing activation back online and finding your way toward the deeper material.

That leaves about 15 minutes for the actual Brainspotting work—just as your brain and body begin to access what’s stored beneath the surface.

The final 5 minutes are then used to contain the work, regulate, and prepare to leave the session.

In practice, this means you may only have around 30 minutes of true processing each week. Over time, this stop-start rhythm can slow nervous-system healing, requiring you to reopen the same material again and again across many sessions.

How the 240 Minutes Are Intentionally Structured for Brainspotting Intensives

Brainspotting works most effectively when the nervous system has time to settle, access, and process without interruption. This intensive is intentionally paced to support deep, brain-based healing while keeping you regulated and supported throughout.

  • 10 Minutes: Arriving & Nervous System Settling

We begin with grounding, orientation, and gentle attunement. This is not casual conversation—it’s about helping your nervous system feel safe enough to slow down and arrive in the body. When your system is regulated, the brain can access deeper material without becoming overwhelmed.

  • 20 Minutes: Clarifying the Focus & Locating the Brainspot

Together, we identify what feels most alive or activated—an emotion, memory, body sensation, or pattern that’s ready to be processed. From here, we establish a clear focus and locate the relevant brainspot so the work that follows is intentional, contained, and aligned with what your system is ready to heal.

  • 200 Minutes: Sustained Brainspotting & Deep Nervous-System Processing

This is where meaningful change occurs.

With extended time, your brain and body are able to stay with the process long enough for true integration to begin. During this phase, you’ll have space for:

  • Therapist-guided Brainspotting tailored to your nervous system

  • Processing stored emotional and traumatic material at your own pace

  • Regulating activation as it naturally rises and falls

  • Allowing insight, emotional release, and resolution to emerge organically

  • Supporting integration without rushing or interrupting the process

Because we are not constrained by the clock, we don’t have to stop just as your brain begins to shift. This uninterrupted container allows the nervous system to complete cycles of processing rather than reopening them week after week.

There is also space for grounding, movement, rest, and breaks as needed, so the work remains embodied, sustainable, and trauma-informed.

  • 10 Minutes: Integration & Gentle Re-Orientation

We close by supporting integration—naming what shifted, orienting your nervous system back to the present, and clarifying what support or next steps may be helpful. This helps you leave feeling grounded and complete, rather than raw or emotionally flooded.

What Happens After Your Brainspotting Intensive?

A Brainspotting intensive can create powerful shifts—but lasting healing happens through integration and continued nervous-system support. After a 2-day Brainspotting intensive, clients typically continue with either:

  • One 4-hour Brainspotting intensive per month, or

  • Two 100-minute Brainspotting sessions per month

This follow-up rhythm allows your brain and body to integrate what was processed during the intensive, continue resolving stored material, and stabilize changes without rushing or overwhelming your system.

Brain-based healing doesn’t happen in a single session. It unfolds through repetition, regulation, and allowing the nervous system to complete its natural processing cycles over time.

Why 100-Minute Brainspotting Sessions Support Integration

After an intensive, shorter sessions can feel abrupt—especially when your nervous system is still integrating deeper work. The 100-minute format offers a contained, spacious environment where processing can continue without the pressure of the clock.

These extended sessions allow time for:

  • Your nervous system to settle fully

  • New insights and sensations to emerge organically

  • Processing to continue at a pace your system can tolerate

  • Meaningful shifts to take root rather than fade

How the 100 Minutes Are Intentionally Structured

  • 10 Minutes: Arriving & Nervous-System Re-Orientation

We begin with grounding, orientation, and gentle check-in. This helps your system transition out of daily life and into a regulated state where Brainspotting work can happen safely and effectively.

  • 20 Minutes: Clarifying Focus & Locating the Brainspot

We identify what has surfaced since your last session—sensations, emotions, memories, or patterns—and determine what your system is ready to process next. From there, we establish a clear focus and locate the appropriate brainspot to guide the work.

  • 65 Minutes: Continued Brainspotting & Deep Processing

This is where integration deepens.

You’ll have extended time for:

  • Therapist-guided Brainspotting that builds on your intensive

  • Continued processing of stored emotional or traumatic material

  • Allowing activation to rise and fall naturally with support

  • Supporting regulation and completion rather than interruption

  • Integrating shifts as they happen, in real time

Because we’re not constrained to a brief hour, your nervous system has time to move through the work without being cut off mid-process.

This extended block also allows space for grounding and regulation before closing, helping you leave feeling steadier and more integrated rather than activated.

  • 5 Minutes: Integration & Gentle Next Steps

We close by supporting integration—naming what shifted, orienting back to the present, and clarifying what will support continued healing between sessions.

The Value of Extended Follow-Up After Brainspotting Intensives

100-minute follow-ups allow you to:

  • Sustain the momentum created during your intensive

  • Support long-term nervous-system regulation

  • Address new material as it arises without rushing

  • Reduce emotional back-and-forth between sessions

  • Create lasting, embodied change

Rather than stretching brain-based healing across many short, fragmented sessions, extended follow-ups offer the continuity, depth, and containment your nervous system needs for real, sustainable healing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Brainspotting Intensives in California

I offer trauma-informed Brainspotting Intensives for adults across California, designed to help process deep emotional and nervous-system-based distress that hasn’t resolved through talk therapy alone. These focused, extended sessions allow for meaningful healing, emotional regulation, and integration in a shorter timeframe than traditional weekly therapy.

  • A Brainspotting Intensive is a focused therapeutic experience where I help clients across California process deep emotional and nervous-system-based trauma by identifying specific eye positions, or “brainspots,” linked to stored distress. This approach allows the brain to access and resolve material that often doesn’t shift through talk therapy alone.

  • Brainspotting works by using eye position to access areas of the brain where trauma and emotional pain are stored. By staying with a specific brainspot, the nervous system can process and release unresolved experiences naturally, often leading to emotional relief and reduced physical or psychological symptoms.

  • Brainspotting Intensives offer extended, uninterrupted time for deep processing. For many clients in California, this format allows for faster progress, deeper insight, and more noticeable shifts than traditional 50-minute weekly sessions, especially when working with trauma, anxiety, or long-standing emotional patterns.

  • Brainspotting Intensives can support trauma, PTSD, anxiety, panic, depression, attachment wounds, chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, performance blocks, and somatic symptoms. This approach is especially helpful when symptoms persist despite insight, coping skills, or prior talk therapy.

  • During a Brainspotting Intensive, I help you identify a brainspot connected to emotional or physical activation. You focus there while I support the processing with grounding, nervous system regulation, and optional bilateral sound. Sessions are paced carefully to support safety and integration.

  • No. Brainspotting does not require detailed verbal processing of traumatic events. While you may share if helpful, much of the work happens internally through body awareness and nervous system processing, which many clients find less overwhelming and more contained.

  • Brainspotting Intensives can be emotionally and physically deep, as they work directly with the nervous system. I provide structure, pacing, and containment to ensure the process feels supported. Many clients plan for rest and gentle integration following their intensive.

  • Yes. I offer Brainspotting Intensives for California residents and can work with clients statewide through in-person or telehealth options when clinically appropriate. This allows clients throughout California to access intensive trauma-informed care without weekly travel.

  • I am an out-of-network provider. Insurance typically does not cover intensive or extended Brainspotting sessions. Many clients choose self-pay for the flexibility, privacy, and depth of this work. I can provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement and you may use FSA or HSA funds to pay for sessions if that is available through your health insurance plan.

  • The first step is scheduling a free 30-minute consultation. I’ll learn about your goals, assess whether a Brainspotting Intensive is the right fit, and help you determine the appropriate format and timing for your healing process.
