Riverside Counseling
for Couples and Individuals in Relationships
You’ve been struggling for a long time now in your relationship. Whether there was infidelity, a rupture in trust or cycles of fighting and withdrawal, you are at the point that you don’t know how much longer the relationship can continue this way.
If you are searching for Riverside counseling because your relationship feels like it is falling apart, you are not alone.
You may be:
Arguing constantly and saying things you regret
Avoiding each other and burying yourself in work, kids, or your phone
Recovering from an affair and wondering if healing is even possible
Feeling like you have tried everything and nothing sticks
You might love your partner and still feel completely exhausted and unsure how much longer you can do this.
Riverside has no shortage of therapists, but you might be craving something deeper and more focused than traditional weekly sessions. That is where relationship counseling intensives come in.
You can drive from Riverside to my Rancho Cucamonga office for in-person intensives, or we can meet virtually, depending on the kind of intensive and what is best for your situation.
How Riverside Counseling Works with Relationship Intensives
Focused on relationships, not just “general counseling”
I specialize in working with:
Couples on the brink of separation or divorce
Partners navigating infidelity or secrecy
Individuals in relationships who need support, even if their partner will not come
Instead of “seeing what comes up” each week, we create a clear plan for your relationship healing.
Step 1: Free consultation for Riverside clients
We start with a phone or video consultation where we talk through what is happening, what you hope will change, and what you are afraid of. If it is a good fit, we map out the right intensive for you.
Step 2: 1 or 2-Day Relationship Intensive
Your intensive may include:
Longer sessions over one or two days so we are not rushing your story
Space to fully explore what broke down and what still matters to you
Brainspotting, internal parts work, and other brain-based tools to support your nervous systems
This is not about blaming or shaming either of you. It is about truly understanding the patterns that keep getting you stuck and finding new ways to show up.
Step 3: Ongoing support after your intensive
We will continue meeting for extended sessions over the course of a year so you are not left alone after a big breakthrough. We will keep checking in on your goals, your nervous systems, and your day-to-day relationship patterns.
About Alicia – A Relationship-Focused Therapist for Riverside Couples
I am Alicia Taverner, LMFT, and I serve couples and individuals in Riverside and throughout California who are ready to stop suffering in silence and start doing the deep work their relationship needs.
I am especially drawn to working with people who feel like:
“We have tried therapy before and it didn’t help enough.”
“Our situation is too complicated or too painful to fix.”
“We should have figured this out by now.”
Over the last decade, I have invested in advanced training in couples counseling, Brainspotting, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, and intensive models of care because I saw how limited the standard 50-minute weekly therapy model can be for couples in crisis.
My work blends science, nervous-system awareness, and deep respect for your history and identity. I am here to hold hope when you cannot, and to give you a structured, compassionate way forward.
FAQ – Riverside Counseling
1. Is this Riverside counseling only for couples, or can I come alone?
You can absolutely come alone. I offer Relationship Therapy Intensives for One for people whose partners are not ready, willing, or available to attend. You can still make meaningful changes in your life and relationship.
2. Do you have an office in Riverside?
My physical office is in Rancho Cucamonga. Many Riverside counseling clients choose to drive in for their intensives and ongoing deep-dive sessions. We can also meet online if a virtual intensive is clinically appropriate and works best for you.
3. How long are the relationship intensives for Riverside clients?
Most couples and individuals start with a 2-day intensive. After that, we schedule monthly mini-intensives or 100-minute sessions twice a month for ongoing support. We will discuss what best fits your schedule and needs in the consultation.
4. Do you work with all kinds of relationships?
Yes. I work with married couples, long-term partners, second marriages, blended families, and LGBTQ+ relationships. What matters is that there is a real commitment to doing the work.
5. What if I am not sure I want to stay in the relationship?
That is very normal. Our work is not about forcing a particular outcome. It is about helping you both get clear and regulated enough to make decisions you can live with, whether that is repair and recommitment or a more peaceful, compassionate separation.
6. Are virtual intensives as effective as in-person intensives?
For many clients, yes. Virtual intensives allow us to do deep work while you are in a familiar environment. There are times when in-person work is preferable, and we will talk honestly about that during your consultation so you can make a fully informed choice.
